1. Reduced delivery of the drug to the hair follicle: Cooling causes vasoconstriction, reducing blood flow to the scalp. As a result, less medication reaches the follicle, decreasing the damage that leads to hair loss.
2. “Hibernation” of follicular cells: Localised hypothermia slows cellular metabolism, making the follicle cells less sensitive to the drug. This helps preserve hair function.
